As it did down the stretch, Highland took control early in Saturday's Division I state boys volleyball match.
The team had to travel but not far to play at its rival home, Gilbert High. But that didn't keep Highland from winning in three games.

Highland proved down the stretch that it was the No. 1 team in the state this year, winning 14 of its final 15 matches.
