Friday, Oct. 5

6A CONFERENCE

No. 14 Cesar Chavez (4-3, 2-0) at No. 12 TUCSON (5-1, 3-0)

The Badgers are a game up on the Champions in the 6A Metro Region but the bigger picture involves the ranking system. The winner stays safe for a top 16 finish for another week.

5A CONFERENCE

No. 4 FLOWING WELLS (5-1, 1-0) at No. 41 Rincon/UHS (1-5, 0-1)

The Caballeros need to keep winning to stay in the top eight but power points will be limited the rest of the way with the last four opponents carrying a combined 4-20 record.

No. 10 CIENEGA (5-1, 1-0) at No. 14 Buena (4-2, 1-0)

Huge game for both teams, not only for region play, but for power rankings. The winner improves their position for the postseason.

No. 13 MARANA (4-2, 0-1) at No. 19 Ironwood Ridge (3-3, 1-0)

The Tigers gave up four touchdowns to Buena on turnovers last Friday after Trenton Bourguet went out of the game as a precaution from an early hit. The Nighthawks need this win to get into playoff contention.

No. 36 Nogales (2-4, 0-1) at No. 21 SUNNYSIDE (3-3, 0-1)

With Ironwood Ridge, Marana and Buena closing out their season, the Blue Devils need to take care of business here against the Apaches.

No. 34 Empire (2-4, 0-1) at No. 33 MOUNTAIN VIEW (1-5, 1-0)

Disappointing season for both teams so far but the region championship is still in play.

No. 42 Cholla 0-6, 0-1) at No. 31 DESERT VIEW (2-4, 1-0)

The Jaguars need this win to stay in the 5A Sonoran race.

4A CONFERENCE

No. 1 SALPOINTE (6-0, 1-0) at No. 13 Casa Grande (5-1, 1-0)

The Lancers have another difficult road trip with Casa Grande making a push for the playoffs. Salpointe is the last undefeated team in Southern Arizona.

No. 6 Canyon del Oro (5-1, 1-0) at No. 14 SAHUARO (5-2, 1-1)

The Dorados and Cougars are looking to keep pace with Salpointe in the 4A Kino race but keeping a good ranking is just a important, especially for Sahuaro at this point.

No. 10 Walden Grove (4-2, 1-0) at No. 19 DOUGLAS (5-1, 0-1)

The Bulldogs tumbled in the playoff rankings after a big loss to Pueblo but a win against the Red Wolves could stop the bleeding. Walden Grove is in a nice spot.

No. 42 Vista Grande (2-5, 0-2) at No. 23 CATALINA FOOTHILLS (2-4, 0-1)

The Falcons need to get back into playoff contention and this game comes first.

No. 29 PUEBLO (2-4, 1-0) at No. 46 Palo Verde (1-5, 0-1)

The Warriors still control their own destiny even with four losses because the 4A Gila Region is still up for grabs.

No. 40 AMPHITHEATER (2-4, 1-0) at No. 44 Rio Rico (1-5, 0-1)

The Panthers are in the same position as Pueblo and winning from here on out is magnified. No room for error.

3A CONFERENCE

No. 32 Tanque Verde (2-4, 0-1) at No. 7 SABINO (4-2, 1-0)

The Sabercats are on a roll and need to focus on this game before worrying about Pusch Ridge, Sahuarita and Safford.

No. 14 SAHUARITA (4-2, 0-1) at No. 13 Pusch Ridge (3-3, 1-0)

A classic midsize battle. The winner has a stronger position down the stretch.

No. 37 Catalina (1-5, 0-1) at No. 9 SAFFORD (3-3, 1-0)

The Bulldogs need to take care of business with Tanque Verde coming next week also. One slip before Pusch Ridge and Sabino would be a power-ranking killer.

2A CONFERENCE

No. 14 Benson (4-2, 2-0) at No. 5 ROUND VALLEY (5-1, 1-0)

The Bobcats control the 2A San Pedro Region but a trip to Round Valley could drop them out of the top 16.

No. 38 Santa Rita (0-6, 0-1) at No. 6 WILLCOX (4-2, 1-0)

The Cowboys could pull even with Benson in the region race with a win here.

No. 19 Bisbee (2-4, 0-1) at No. 21 TOMBSTONE (3-3, 0-1)

Two teams trying to get back into playoff contention but time is running short.

No. 23 Santa Cruz (1-5, 0-1) at No. 2 ARIZONA LUTHERAN (6-0, 1-0)

This would have been the game of the week had it been played last year but the Dust Devils are having a difficult year.

No. 26 TEMPE PREP (2-5, 0-1) at No. 29 San Manuel (1-5, 0-1)

The Miners are looking for a slight upset here.

1A CONFERENCE

No. 13 ST. DAVID (4-3, 2-2) at No. 23 San Pasqual (0-5, 0-3)

With a 12-team playoff bracket, the Tigers need to win out and hope for the best.

No. 14 Valley Union (1-5, 1-1) at No. 12 DUNCAN (3-3, 2-1)

The Blue Devils are in the same position as St. David. A loss to Duncan will be almost impossible to overcome.

No. 20 Baboquivari (2-5, 1-3) BYE

No. 22 Bowie/San Simon ()-5, 0-3) BYE
