The 2A Conference gets serious about crowning its bsketball champions over the next three days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) with its quaterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds, respectively, all  at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

Last year's defending champs in boys (Scottsdale Christian) and girls (Valley Christian) remain in the hunt for repeats.

Girls quarterfinals are Thursday with Camp Verde facing last year's 2A runner-up Pima (9 a.m.). The other quarterfinals pit Thatcher-St. Johns at noon, Desert Christiain-Valley Christian (3 p.m .) and Pusch Ridge-Scottsdale Christian (6 p.m.).

The Valley Christian-Desert Christian winner faces the Camp Verde-Pima winner Friday at 3:30 p.m. followed at 5:15 p.m. by the Thatcher-St. Johns vs. the Pusch Ridge-Scottsdale Christian winner. The championship game is Saturday at 4 p.m.

Boys quarterfinals on Thursday begin with Thatcher-Phoenix Country Day (10:30 a.m.), Westwind Prep-Greyhills (1:30 p.m.), Arizona Lutheran-Scottsdale Christian (4:30 p.m.) and Northwest Christian-Valley Christian (7:30 p.m.).

The Thatcher-Phoenix Country Day winner faces the Northwest Christian-Valley Christian winner Friday at 7 p.m. and the Westwind Prep-Greyhills winner battles the Arizona Lutheran-Scottsdale Christian winner at 8:45 p.m. The championship game is Saturday at 6 p.m.

The 1A Conference decides its champions Friday and Saturday. Defending girls champion Salt River was eliminated in the round of 16 so a new champion will be crowned this year. Friday's girls semifinals match Valley Union and Gilbert Christian at 8:30 a.m. followed by Salome-Fort Thomas at 10:15 a.m. The final is Saturday at noon.

The 1A boys semifinals on Friday match defending champion Gilbert Christian and El Capitan at noon followed by Orme-St. Gregory at 1:45 p.m. The championship game is Saturday at 2 p.m.
