Just two games from the end of football's regular season (Divisions I through V) and a couple two or three matches shy from finishing volleyball (Divisions I through V).

The most recent division seedings (the vehicle for composing state tournament brackets) were posted Tuesday morning (Oct. 16). Just to be sure fans don't forget an important caveat to the seeding of the state tournament, here is a reminder when perusing those seedings.

The top three teams in each of the three sections in all the divisions are awarded automatic playoff berths whether they rest in the top 16  or not (i.e. they don't have to finish in the top 16 to qualify for state).

At present that means Division I football, Division I volleyball and Division V volleyball would make adjustments that aren't visible and won't be until final seedings are tabulated Oct. 27. Each of those aforementioned divisions have teams in a section not in the top 16, but are in the top three of their section. Those schools would bump higher seeds from other sections to obtain any or all of the No. 14-16 positions.

What follows are seedings in D-I football, D-I volleyball and D-V volleyball as they appear are now and what the final seedings would be if the season(s) were over today. All other divisions in football and volleyball do not have automatic qualifiers residing below the top 16 seeds as of Oct. 16.
