aia365.com's Friday football coverage plans
August 24, 2012 by Jose Garcia, AZPreps365
The aia365.com’s Friday Night Wrap Up Radio Show, now in its 8th season, continues to grow.
An extra 30 minutes was added to the 9:30-11:30 p.m. show on 860 AM. Dave Zorn and Curt Blakeney are the show’s hosts, and Mr. Do It All, Pablo Rios, and a handful of field reporters will provide scoring updates beginning tonight.
Zorn has been in radio for 22 years and served as Holbrook’s football play-by-play announcer in the early 1990s. He’s been covering the Valley prep scene for the past 12 years and kicks off his 6th season on the Wrap Up Show Friday night along with Blakeney and Rios.
Blakeney has covered high school sports for the past decade. Besides running the show’s aia365.com’s scoreboard update desk and helping produce aia365.com’s Saturday morning radio show, Rios for the past five years has also worked in news radio.
Speaking of Saturday’s show (9-11 a.m., 620 AM), below is Saturday’s lineup:
The show kicks off with a preview of Saturday’s big game between Phoenix Brophy and Rancho Santa Margarita, with interviews with former Phoenix Bropy and current Arizona State kicker Alex Garoutte, Brophy athletic director John Chambers, Brophy’s Red Army student support group and Santa Margarita coach Harry Welch.
At about 9:45 a.m.: The 620 AM radio crew talks to AIA referee Don Cerimeli, who along with his crew is preparing to travel to Ireland to officiate a couple of games.
10 a.m.: A recap of Friday night’s most interesting high school matchups.
10:30 a.m.: Interview with Glendale Cactus coach Larry Fetkenhier, previewing his team’s trip to California next week to play Bakersfield.
