Phoenix Country Day builds on dynasty status

Jake Gregory scored two goals for Phoenix Country Day Saturday, as the Eagles defeated Trivium Prep, 4-2 in the 2A state title contest.
The victory gave Phoenix Country Day its third championship in four years.
Gabe Engilman and Ari Kreisbeger scored the first and fourth goals for Phoenix Country Day.

"These kids deserve everything they've accomplished and especially today," Phoenix Coubtry Day coach Andrew Rodin said. "Once you're on top it's so hard to stay there, especially with a target on your back.These kids worked and fought so hard to keep it going. They deserve all the credit and they had to beat a dang good team."

Phoenix Country Day took a 1-0 to halftime, as goalkeeper Will Pryor had five blocked scoring attempts for the Eagles. Early in the second half, Gregory scored to to make the score 2-0. But Trivium wasn't backing down. Noah Messieah and Jake Magallanes combined for two score in the next 10 minutes to tie the match at 2-2.
But that's when Gregory quickly gave thr Eagles the lead again on great kick from 22 yards out.
Ari Kreisberger added an insurance goal that all but assured the win.

"It's really amazing to win three championships in 4 years," Gregory said." We had to beat a really good team again. I think our culture is what makes us different. "We refuse to lose and we just want it more."
