Perry remains unbeaten after rout of Utah’s Corner Canyon

Perry's high-flying offense and surplus of talent were on full display Friday night in central Phoenix.
The Pumas overwhelmed a solid Corner Canyon squad from Draper UT, resulting in a 78-58 win that was hardly that close.
Seniors D'Andre Harrison (23 points) and Koa Peat (22) led the way for Perry, which raced out to a 48-19 lead by halftime. The Pumas size and athleticism were far too much for Corner Canyon, which gave up 28 points in the second quarter. As Perry owned the boards and forced five turnovers, leading to fast breaks and thundering dunks from Harrison and Peat.

The three-time defending state champions improved to 11-0, and this year's squad is clearly the team beat once again.
The Pumas beat a great Sunnyslope team earlier in the week, 61-52. They still have to face Basha twice in region play, and another playoff showdown with Millennium almost seems inevitable.
"We have to take it game by game," Harrison said. "We can't overlook anyone. We're playing well and rebounding and playing as one."
This game is a highlight reel…brought to you by Koa Peat and D’Andre Harrison. Bruce Branch had the feed on the alley-oop dunk. Perry leads Corner Canyon (UT) 61-41 at the end of 3 quarters. @kpeat10 @PerryPumaMBB pic.twitter.com/wQJMTrZqyD

Besides the 6-8 Peat and 6-5 Harrison, teams have to deal with 6-7 sophomore Bruce Branch III, who scored 12 points. Senior Dominic Alavos added 11 points and six assists.
Bryton Valdes led Corner Canyon with 18 points, which fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Perry 22-13. The outcome was never in doubt, but Pumas coach Sam Duane Jr. wasn't happy with the third quarter.
"We can't afford to get complacent," Duane Jr. said.
Brophy 61
Overland (CO) 47
Senior Ryan Burbach led the Broncos with 21 points to close out the Capital Tip-Off Classic with a 14 point win over Overland High out of Colorado.
Luke Wieskamp (16) and Daylen Sharper (14) combined for another 30 points, as host Brophy improved to 5-3 on the season.
