Tanque Verde went 3-0 on Friday to earn the top seed at the TUSD Volleyball Tournament held at Palo Verde High School and the Hawks went on to win three more matches during bracket play on Saturday to claim the championship. The Hawks outlasted Mica Mountain 2-1 in the semifinal round before beating Rincon/UHS 2-0 in the championship match.

Senior outside Jasmin Joseph led all players with 12 kills in the championship match with junior setter Hannah Haggard putting together 15 assists. Scarlett Lopez had 11 assists for the Rangers and Hailey Waugaman had 5 kills.

Tanque Verde is now 8-0 on the year and 2-0 in power-ranking matches. Mica Mountain took third place at the tournament and the Thunderbolts will visit Tanque Verde on Tuesday in a regular season match. Rincon/UHS (5-2) is slated to host Salpointe (2-0) on Tuesday. Mica Mountain beat Tucson High 2-1 in the third place match.

The Flowing Wells Invitational is schedule for this coming Friday and Saturday.
